I Graduated. The B2B is, Too!

Image
This past weekend, I officially graduated from my dream school. What can I say? After 3 days of 3 ceremonies, countless hugs, countless "We did it!"I'm pretty darn proud of myself. I don't necessarily have some huge job opportunity lined up, but I'm taking my accomplishments as they come. There were many times when walking across that stage didn't seem like a reality, and to be sitting here looking at my diploma from the school I pined over all of high school? Huge. And now, I take the Bridge to Bliss higher. This blog has been around though so much, and I cannot wait for the B2B to matriculate just as I have. With that being said, there will be a brief hiatus of time for me to make that blog matriculation a reality. Keep your eyes opened, and sign up for notifications so that you are one of the first to be revealed to the glo' up. In the mean time, check out some of the photos from graduation weekend below! A Letter for Kay: Advice to New College Students

Here's a wild fact: I graduate in less than a week. And even though I've known that fact for a while now (except, maybe, right before my econ final), it's still not real enough. I still cannot fathom how these last four years flew by but at the same time went excruciatingly slow. It's been a hell of a ride, let me tell you. I wanted to go to the best journalism school, despite snarky remarks from classmates insinuating that I wasn't good enough. And when I got in , honey, excited was an understatement. I started my first day of college in 2013. And now I'll be walking across a stage to get this expensinve diploma in a week. I can't say it's all been pleasant - because it hasn't. It's been a tough ride many days, some I wondered if this day would ever come. Some I felt so isolated and alone that I f

Defying the Odds

It seems like whenever I'm all set and ready to give up on myself, the universe sends a message to keep pushing forward. For the past two nights, I've attended a Defy Ventures pitching competition. Defy Ventures is a non-profit organization that connects venture capitalists with currently and formerly incarcerated entrepreneurs. Each night, I was completely blown away at not only the ideas of the Entrepreneurs-in-Training (EITs), but the burning passion and knowledge for the work they were doing. Let me be honest: while San Francisco and Silicon Valley are truly hubs for tech and there's a bunch of cool stuff going on here, this place isn't some magical progressive utopia like many pretend to think. It's over-saturated with straight, wealthy white men who see themselves as the standard for what innovation means. You've been living under a rock to not know about the terrible diversity numbers in the tech industry. This quarter has been a little frustrating b
